Joel Scott Commits To Second London Lions Season After Injury-Hit Title Year

Joel Scott will return to London Lions for a second season after committing to the club for the next Super League Basketball campaign.

The forward arrived in the capital last summer and quickly became one of London’s most productive frontcourt options. According to Super League Basketball, Scott opened the season with 25 points against Leicester Riders before following up with 21, 19 and 18 points in his next three outings.

That early form made him one of the league’s standout performers, although his campaign was interrupted by an injury that kept him out for three months. Scott still returned in time to contribute as the Lions completed a clean sweep of domestic honours.

Across 29 league games, SLB listed Scott at 12.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 57.9% from the floor and 38.6% from three-point range. He also featured on the European stage, averaging 12.5 points and 5.4 rebounds across eight EuroCup appearances.

London Lions general manager Martynas Purlys said the club was “delighted” to extend its partnership with Scott, pointing to his professionalism, team contribution and value to the organisation.

For Lions supporters, the move gives London continuity in a key position as the club begins shaping its roster for the new season. Scott’s combination of interior scoring, rebounding and perimeter efficiency gives the Lions a proven SLB-level forward to build around, while also retaining a player who has already shown he can produce in European competition.

The signing also underlines the challenge facing the rest of the league. London finished the season with every major domestic trophy, and keeping one of last season’s most efficient forwards is an early signal that the Lions do not intend to stand still.

Further roster announcements are expected as clubs across the league move into their summer recruitment work.
