London Lions Secure Multi-Year EuroCup Return as Early Bird Ticket Window Nears

London Lions will compete in the BKT EuroCup in 2026-27 after agreeing a three-plus-two year deal with Euroleague Basketball.

The agreement gives the Lions a potential five-year licence in one of Europe’s leading club competitions and places the club in the expanded 32-team EuroCup field for next season. It is a major statement for the British game, giving London a longer runway to plan around regular continental basketball rather than treating Europe as a year-to-year opportunity.

The club earned its place after a dominant domestic campaign, sweeping the SLB Playoff Title, SLB Championship, SLB Cup and SLB Trophy in 2025-26. The new EuroCup format will split 32 teams into four groups of eight, with 16 advancing to the postseason. From there, the Eighthfinals, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals will each be played as best-of-three series.

For London, the return also carries recent history. The Lions first entered the competition in 2022-23 and quickly raised the ceiling for British clubs in Europe. In 2023, they became the first British side to reach the EuroCup playoffs, before going one better in 2023-24 by reaching the EuroCup Semifinals.

That semifinal run remains one of the standout achievements in modern British club basketball. London’s 2025-26 EuroCup campaign did not reach the postseason, but this multi-year agreement gives the club a platform to build with greater continuity.

Lions General Manager Martynas Purlys said the licence was recognition of what the club has achieved and “a clear signal” of its direction, adding that London are working to establish themselves as an important landmark on the European basketball map.

Fans will not have to wait long for ticket movement either. London Lions Early Bird ticket sales are scheduled to start on 17 June and run until 7 July, giving supporters an early window to secure seats before the new European campaign.

The Lions will learn their EuroCup group and fixture details in due course, with the full participating team list still subject to final ratification by the Euroleague Basketball General Assembly.
