London Lions add frontcourt strength with Thomas Kennedy signing

London Lions have added another piece to their 2026-27 roster by signing Canadian forward Thomas Kennedy.

The 25-year-old joins the Lions after a title-winning season with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, where he won the Slovenian League Championship and Slovenian Supercup in 2025-26.

Kennedy gives London a physical 6ft 9in frontcourt presence as the club builds towards a domestic title defence and its return to the BKT EuroCup.

He featured in 18 EuroCup games last season, averaging 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 61.7 per cent from the field. He also played 25 games in the ABA League, one of Europe’s strongest regional competitions.

Before moving to Slovenia, Kennedy spent two seasons in Germany with Telekom Baskets Bonn and also competed in the Basketball Champions League.

He is also a full Canadian international, having represented Canada at senior level since 2022. Kennedy was part of the Canada team that won bronze at the 2022 FIBA AmeriCup.

London Lions general manager Martynas Purlys said Kennedy brings the type of interior profile the club wanted to add.

“Thomas is a true centre who brings exactly what we need in the paint. His experience across the EuroCup, the ABA League and the German Bundesliga speaks for itself. He is a dominant, physical presence that elevates any roster.”

Kennedy becomes the fifth confirmed signing of London’s offseason, joining returnees Deane Williams, Joel Scott and Ethan Price, plus rising prospect Emilis Zibuda.

For the Lions, the move continues a clear early-summer pattern: retaining key domestic pieces while adding players with European experience ahead of another continental campaign.
