London Lions Sign EuroCup Standout Devante Jones
London Lions have strengthened their backcourt for the 2026-27 season with the signing of American point guard Devante Jones.
Jones, 28, arrives after a standout campaign with Dolomiti Energia Trento, where he established himself as one of the most productive guards in last season’s BKT EuroCup. He finished third in EuroCup scoring at 18.6 points per game, while also adding 4.5 assists and shooting 60.6 per cent from two-point range across 18 games.
That form earned Jones a place on the All-EuroCup First Team and gives London a proven lead guard as they prepare for their return to European competition.
Lions supporters have already had a close look at what he can do. Jones faced London twice in the EuroCup last season, scoring 22 points in one meeting and a season-high 33 in the other.
London Lions General Manager Martynas Purlys said: “Devante Jones is officially a London Lion. Smart, physical and with the right winning mentality, he is the kind of player we wanted in this squad. Point guard is a key position for us and we’re confident Devante is the right man to own it.”
Jones also averaged 10.5 points and 3.5 assists in the Italian Serie A last season. Before joining Trento, he played for Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia, winning the Slovenian League Championship in 2025, and previously competed in France’s top flight, where he was twice named an All-Star.
His arrival continues a busy offseason for the Lions as they build around both domestic title defence and EuroCup progress. Jones becomes the club’s seventh confirmed signing of the summer, joining returnees Deane Williams, Joel Scott and Ethan Price, alongside new additions Emilis Zibuda, Thomas Kennedy and Maxwell Lewis.
For London, this is more than just another roster move. The Lions have already secured a multi-year BKT EuroCup place for 2026-27, and adding an All-EuroCup calibre guard gives them another serious piece as they try to turn domestic dominance into another strong European run.
