Wales U14 Squads Set For Home Nations Invitational In Cardiff

Wales U14 boys and girls squads are representing their country at the Home Nations Invitational Tournament at Cardiff Met Archers Arena, with England, Scotland and Ireland also involved in a weekend of junior international basketball.

The event gives Wales’ young players a valuable chance to test themselves against Home Nations opposition while wearing the national jersey in front of a home crowd.

Basketball Wales said selection reflects the work, commitment and dedication shown by players throughout the national team pathway. For many of those involved, the tournament is an important early milestone in their basketball journey.

The Home Nations Invitational is also a useful development opportunity for coaches and staff, with high-quality junior competition helping players gain experience against some of the best emerging talent from across the UK and Ireland.

“Representing Wales is a tremendous honour, and every player selected should be incredibly proud of their achievement,” said Ryan Chambers, Basketball Wales’ Head of Performance and Coaching Pathways.

Chambers added that the tournament is an opportunity for players to test themselves against strong opposition, continue their development and create lasting memories while wearing the Welsh jersey.

How supporters can follow the action

Basketball Wales says tickets are available in advance for supporters attending in Cardiff. The governing body has also advised spectators to allow extra travel time because parking at the Archers Arena is expected to be extremely limited due to other sporting events taking place across the Cardiff Metropolitan University campus.

For fans who cannot make it to Cardiff, games from the Home Nations Invitational are being streamed on the Swish Basketball App, where supporters can follow fixtures, scores and standings across the weekend.

With England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales all represented, the tournament should provide a strong snapshot of the next wave of junior talent in the Home Nations pathway.
