Tarik Phillip Extends London Lions Stay With Two-Year Deal

London Lions have confirmed that guard Tarik Phillip has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping one of the club’s most experienced backcourt pieces in the capital through the 2027–28 season.

The 32-year-old dual British and American guard was a key part of London’s historic 2025–26 campaign, with the Lions sweeping the SLB Playoff Title, SLB Championship, SLB Cup and SLB Trophy.

Phillip featured in 32 league games last season, averaging 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting better than 53 per cent inside the arc and 80 per cent from the free-throw line.

He was also important in Europe, where his experience and steadiness gave London another reliable option in the backcourt. Across 18 EuroCup games, Phillip averaged 12.2 points and 4.0 assists, shooting 57.3 per cent from two-point range and 37 per cent from three.

Phillip first joined London in 2022 and was part of the Lions side that reached the EuroCup semi-finals in 2023–24, becoming the first British team to reach that stage of the competition.

With London already confirmed for another EuroCup campaign, keeping Phillip gives the Lions continuity, leadership and a guard who understands both the club and the demands of European basketball.

Phillip is also a full Great Britain international and represented GB at FIBA EuroBasket 2025, adding further experience to a Lions roster that continues to take shape for 2026–27.

London Lions general manager Martynas Purlys said Phillip remains an important figure for the club.

The extension is another important piece of roster business for the Lions, who have been active in shaping their squad after a dominant domestic season. For supporters, it also keeps a familiar face in London as the club prepares to balance another multi-front campaign at home and in Europe.
