Dillon Brooks and Suns agree reported three-year extension

Dillon Brooks and the Phoenix Suns have agreed a reported three-year contract extension through the 2029-30 NBA season.

NBA.com reported the agreement, citing ESPN’s Shams Charania, with Brooks now set to stay in Phoenix beyond the final year of the four-year, $86 million deal he signed with the Houston Rockets in 2023.

The nine-year NBA veteran joined the Suns during the 2025-26 season after spending two years in Houston. His move to Phoenix became part of a wider roster reset after the franchise moved on from Kevin Durant.

Brooks made a strong individual impact in his first Suns campaign. NBA.com’s report states that he appeared in 56 games and averaged a career-best 20.2 points per game, helping Phoenix return to the playoffs as the eighth seed after missing the postseason the previous year.

The Suns were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs, but Phoenix has moved quickly this offseason to secure key pieces. NBA.com notes that the team has also locked up guards Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin, along with centre Mark Williams, while trading for forward Miles Bridges in a deal that sent Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale to Charlotte.

For Brooks, the extension gives him longer-term security in a role where his scoring, physical defence and edge have become central to Phoenix’s new-look identity. For the Suns, it is another sign that the organisation is trying to build continuity around last season’s playoff return rather than starting again.
