London Lions have signed American point guard Keenan Evans on a season-long loan from Žalgiris Kaunas ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
The Lions confirmed the move on Friday 7 August, describing Evans as a EuroLeague-level addition to their backcourt as the club prepares for domestic competition and European play.
Evans has agreed a deal with Žalgiris and will spend the coming season in London, where he will reunite with a coaching group that knows him well. Lions head coach Tautvydas Sabonis was part of the Žalgiris coaching staff during Evans’ time in Kaunas, while assistant coach Gintaras Krapikas also worked within that set-up.
The 6ft 3in guard brings a high-level European résumé, having played for Žalgiris, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Olympiacos. London’s announcement highlighted his 2023-24 EuroLeague season with Žalgiris, when he played all 34 regular-season games and averaged 17.3 points and 3.9 assists with an 18.3 performance index rating.
Evans’ last two seasons have been disrupted by injuries, but the move gives the Lions a major talent to integrate while he rebuilds rhythm and fitness. Sportando reported that the loan will also allow Evans to make his BKT EuroCup debut with London.
London Lions general manager Martynas Purlys said Evans’ “talent, leadership and winning mentality” make him an outstanding addition, adding that bringing a player of his calibre to London is “another statement” of the club’s ambition.
The signing is a significant marker for the Lions’ 2026-27 build, adding proven EuroLeague quality to a roster aiming to compete at the top end of British basketball while also making an impact in Europe.
