B. Braun Sheffield Hatters have added American centre Rachel Cockman for the 2026/27 season, strengthening their frontcourt ahead of the new Super League Basketball campaign.

Cockman is a 23-year-old, 6ft 2in centre from Cantwell, Alaska. She last played for Galitos in Portugal, where she averaged 7.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Before moving into the professional game, Cockman spent four seasons at Western Colorado University in NCAA women’s basketball. In her senior year she averaged 12.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game, giving Sheffield another interior presence at both ends of the court.

The Hatters are coming off a successful campaign and continue to shape their roster for 2026/27 under head coach Vanessa Ellis.

In the club announcement, Cockman said she was looking forward to joining “such an historic team” and noted the success Sheffield had last season as something the group wants to strive for again.

Ellis said Cockman would provide “great size and presence in the paint” and added that she was excited to see how the centre fits into the roster.

The signing gives Sheffield another overseas frontcourt option as the women’s Super League Basketball season approaches, with clubs across the league continuing to firm up rosters through August.
