Pollyanna Storie becomes Newcastle Eagles Women’s first 2026/27 recruit

Pollyanna Storie, announced as Newcastle Eagles Women’s first 2026/27 signing

Newcastle Eagles Women have confirmed Pollyanna Storie as the first new piece of their 2026/27 Super League Basketball roster.

The 6ft 2in forward returns to the British top flight after a five-year spell at the University of Calgary, adding size, perimeter skill and UK league experience to Chloe Gaynor’s squad.

Storie is already familiar with the domestic scene. She previously spent four seasons with Caledonia Pride in the WBBL before heading to Canada, and Newcastle said she represented Great Britain at under-16 and under-18 level.

Her final season before leaving Caledonia included averages of 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. At Calgary, she completed a five-year run with the Dinos and averaged 11.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in her senior year, while also helping the team win its Conference tournament and earning All-Tournament MVP recognition.

Gaynor said Storie’s versatility and offensive perimeter game fit the Eagles’ style, with the forward expected to bring international experience back into a league she knows well.

For Newcastle, the announcement gives the women’s roster a clear starting point for the new campaign. It also brings another GB pathway player back into the UK game at a time when SLB Women clubs are beginning to shape their squads for 2026/27.
