Basketball England has published its 2026/27 pre-season officiating information, setting out the key dates officials need before the new campaign.
The programme includes online sessions for referees, table officials and statisticians in the first week of September, followed by a Regional Officiating Conference tour around the country.
Basketball England says officials should take part in the pre-season education ahead of the new season and upcoming rule changes. The online sessions begin on Tuesday 1 September, with separate sessions listed for all officials, table officials, referees and statisticians across 1–2 September.
The Regional Officiating Conferences will then run from Sunday 6 September to Friday 18 September, with 11 sessions planned across England. Confirmed locations include Manchester Basketball Centre, Bromsgrove School, Richard Huish College in Taunton, Hartland High School in Reading, Riverside Campus in Barking, Long Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge, The Bridge Leisure Centre in Horsham, Harris Lowe Academy Willesden, Loughborough University and Leeds Beckett University. A North East venue is still listed as to be confirmed.
The conference agenda includes new rules, game-day procedures, 2026/27 points of emphasis, special situations and the referee fitness test.
Basketball England has also confirmed pre-season rules-test windows through Learning Nexus. The practice window is open until Wednesday 26 August, with the main test window running from Thursday 27 August to Wednesday 2 September 2026. Two resit windows are also listed: 17–23 September and 8–14 October.
For clubs and leagues, the update is an important reminder that officials’ preparation is already underway before the domestic season begins.
