London Lions fell 81–76 to Skyliners Frankfurt at the Copper Box Arena on Thursday night, leaving their BKT EuroCup record at one win and two defeats.
The Lions trailed 45–36 at half-time after Frankfurt won the opening quarters 21–18 and 24–18. London responded after the break, taking the third period 22–18, but a level 18–18 final quarter allowed the visitors to protect their advantage.[2][5]
Scott leads London response
Joel Scott produced London’s strongest all-round line with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Tarik Phillip added 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, while DeVante Jones scored 13 points in just under 22 minutes.[5]
London made 21 of 41 two-point attempts but converted only seven of 26 shots from three-point range. Their 15 offensive rebounds created extra possessions, although 14 turnovers and Frankfurt’s five blocked shots helped keep the Lions chasing the game.[5]
Judah Mintz paced Frankfurt with 20 points, including a perfect six from six at the free-throw line. Till Pape supplied 12 points without missing a two-point attempt, while Race Thompson contributed seven rebounds and four blocks.[5]
Late pressure falls short
Frankfurt established control before the interval, but London cut into the nine-point half-time deficit during the third quarter and kept the contest close down the stretch. The visitors held their nerve to secure a fourth consecutive win across all competitions.[2]
The defeat follows London’s 89–77 home win over La Laguna Tenerife and came only three days after their historic NBA exhibition against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lions now turn to an SLB Championship trip to Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday before visiting U-BT Cluj-Napoca in the EuroCup on Wednesday.[1]
