London Lions NextGen will compete in the adidas Next Generation EuroLeague pre-qualifying tournament in Vienna from 27–29 November, with a place at February’s Paris qualifier available to the winner.[4]
The Lions are one of eight under-18 programmes in the field alongside hosts Vienna Basketball, Abu Dhabi Wildcats, Cholet Basket, Neptunas Klaipeda, Orange1 Bassano, Veolia Towers Hamburg and an adidas Select Program team.[4]
Vienna offers a route into the Paris qualifier
Winning the Vienna event would send London to the ANGT Qualifying Tournament in Paris in February 2027. That makes the three-day competition more than a standalone youth event: it is a direct opportunity to earn another appearance against leading European academies.[4]
The 2026/27 NextGen EuroLeague structure includes 40 under-18 programmes from 15 countries across six tournaments. Two pre-qualifying events have been introduced to widen access to the continental pathway.[4]
London’s preparation schedule begins with a training camp from 21–25 November. The group will travel to Austria on 26 November and return to London on 30 November.[4]
Coaching team confirmed
London Stars Academy general manager Igor Chytrzynski will serve as team manager. Jordanas Mejeras is the head coach, supported by assistants Kyla Nelson and Liam Jefferson, while Domantas Tautkus will oversee strength and conditioning.[4]
The announcement continues the Lions’ involvement in a competition designed to expose leading young players to international basketball. The official NextGen platform carries results, video and coverage from its qualification tournaments and finals.[5]
For British prospects, the Vienna trip provides a clear test against academies from France, Lithuania, Italy, Germany, Austria and the Middle East. It also gives London’s development programme a measurable target: win the event and advance to Paris.[4]
The Lions have not yet announced their playing squad or the detailed Vienna fixture schedule. Those details should therefore be treated as pending rather than assumed from the list of participating teams.
