Manchester Basketball have parted company with men’s head coach Matt Otten by mutual consent, with Antoine Broxsie taking charge on an interim basis.
Assistant coach Dan Petts will continue alongside Broxsie, whose first game in the lead role is scheduled to come against Newcastle Eagles on Friday.[3]
Otten leaves after landmark European run
Otten was appointed in August 2025 and helped Manchester reach their first domestic final in last season’s Super League Basketball Cup.[3]
He also led the franchise into Europe for the first time. Manchester reached the European North Basketball League final after beating German club MBC Syntainics in the semi-final, before making more history this season by becoming the first British team to win a Basketball Champions League qualifying game with victory over Würzburg.[3]
Manchester chief executive Claire Bradbury thanked Otten for his work and said the club had decided it was the right time for a change after careful consideration.[3]
Broxsie steps up
Broxsie moves up from his assistant-coach role. Manchester highlighted his 15-year professional playing career and coaching and player-development experience, including work across the NBA, NBA G League and international basketball with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers.[3]
Friday’s visit to Newcastle will provide the first indication of how Broxsie intends to shape the side. The immediate appointment gives Manchester continuity on the bench while the club considers its longer-term coaching position.
