Newcastle Eagles have added American centre/forward Adam Hamilton to their 2026/27 Super League Basketball roster.
The 6ft 9in frontcourt player joins the Eagles for his second professional season, having spent his rookie campaign between Manisa Basket in Türkiye and GS Ermis Shimatariou in Greece.
Hamilton averaged 7.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in Greece’s second-tier Elite League, giving Newcastle another physical option as head coach Marc Steutel continues to shape his squad for the new campaign.
The Eagles also pointed to Hamilton’s NCAA background at Lamar University, where he was voted onto the Southland Conference defensive team of the year in 2025. Newcastle highlighted his energy, defensive presence and rebounding as key parts of the recruitment decision.
Hamilton said he was excited to become an Eagle and play in front of supporters at the Vertu Arena, while Steutel described him as an important addition who brings physicality and hunger to the group.
For Newcastle, the signing adds more size and defensive edge to a roster being rebuilt for another demanding SLB season. Hamilton’s ability to protect the rim and contribute on the glass should give the Eagles flexibility across the frontcourt once pre-season begins.
