Former NBA first-round pick TyTy Washington has joined LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, giving the French EuroLeague side another backcourt option for the 2026/27 campaign.

ASVEL confirmed Washington’s arrival on 24 August. Euroleague Basketball reported that the length of the guard’s contract has not been disclosed.

Washington, 24, was the 29th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He split last season between the Los Angeles Clippers and their G League affiliate, the San Diego Clippers, making 16 NBA appearances while averaging 1.3 points and 1.1 assists in limited minutes.

His G League production was much heavier. With San Diego, Washington averaged 19.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.6 steals across 28 games, numbers that point to the on-ball creation ASVEL will hope can translate to Europe.

The move continues a busy ASVEL rebuild and gives Washington a first major European opportunity after spells around the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns and Clippers organisations. In 2024/25, he averaged 22.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.0 assists in 34 G League games with the Valley Suns.

For EuroLeague followers in the UK, Washington is a familiar NBA pathway name: a former Kentucky guard, a first-round pick, and now part of the growing stream of young American guards using top-level European basketball as a major next step.
